It's not often we get to see what LIVES in those seashells...and what has created that shell! Mollusks don’t just inhabit these amazing beach treasures, their shell grows with them as they grow, most being born with that shell! Throughout human history shells have been used as money, headdresses, bridal pieces, symbols of wealth, decor, and reminders of a great beach vacation. Outside of all these human uses, the true beauty will always lie with the mollusks that created them.

 

What Lives in Seashells explores some of southwest Florida's most interesting mollusks that create and live in the iconic shells you'll find on the beaches of southwest Florida, including areas like Fort Myers and Sanibel.
